![]() This is a feel good musical based on the 1963 Cliff Richard film of the same name. Ray Quinn is wonderful as Don, by the second act he made the role his own rather than trying to do an impersonation of Cliff Richard. I have seen Ray Quinn before in Grease and he was amazing in that, so he'd a lot to live up to and I was not disappointed. A group of four young men decide to travel on a summer holiday to the South of France on a double decker bus. They pick up a girl pop group trying to get to Athens for a gig and decide to take them, they then pick up a young runaway popstar being chased by her mum and agent. These are two very comedic characters and lots of fun and frolics ensue as they travel through France, Switzerland, Italy and eventually Greece. Several of Cliff Richard hits have been added that weren't in the original film but this adds to the film making it the ultimate feel good musical and a real trip down memory lane. The cast and ensemble perform some wonderful high energy dance sequences. It is a great cast and lots of credit go to them but the ensemble are excellent too and really should not be overlooked. One highlight was the ensemble doing a Greek dance dressed as goats, it was hilarious. We can’t promise that there will be ‘no more working for a week or two’, but we can promise ‘fun and laughter on our summer holiday, no more worries for me or you.' Highly recommended, a real dose of nostalgia. Summer Holiday is at Leeds Grand Theatre from Tuesday 31 July to Saturday 4 August Tickets are on sale now priced from £20.50 (prices include a £3 booking fee. Postage charge £1 where applicable) Book online at leedsgrandtheatre.com or call Box Office on 0844 848 2700
